Welcome to the 2011 Sailing Season! And come on down to Solomons Island in Southern Maryland for a schooner sail on the Chesapeake Bay!

For 2012, Schooner Heron Charters is holding our rates at $390 for the weekdays, weekends, and holidays!

For a party of six: a wonderful afternoon sailing on the Bay aboard the beautiful 60-foot staysail Schooner Heron, with Captain, including food and softdrinks...

Nothing on the Bay can compare with this amazing offer!

The "standard" cruise leaves the dock at 12 noon and returns at 5 pm, giving you your evening to enjoy a night out in Solomons Island. You should arrive by 11:30 am, so you can load your gear onto the boat and ready yourself for the noon departure. We will motor out of Mill Creek and quickly make the Patuxent River. From there it is a short sail out into the lovely Chesapeake Bay.

Cruise Ideas:

• Start your 5-hour sail later in the day. Perhaps you would like to leave at 4 pm or 5 pm to enjoy the setting sun as we return to the homeport.

• Sail/motor up the Patuxent River to tie up at the famous Vera's Restaurant, enjoy a meal ashore, then have a pleasant sail/motor back down the River to the homeport. (I say "sail/motor" because the winds have to be just right to get in a good sail up or down the Pax River.)

Special Occasions and Ideas:

• The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race: (see our webpage describing this great event) We're going to offer two slots for this spectacular event which takes place the third week of October, 2010.

• Wives of Sailors... "women only" day (except for the lucky Captain) to enjoy a day on the water without the spouse's friendly commands.

• Smaller boat sailors testing their skills on a larger boat.

• Parties to celebrate a special event, such as a wedding, a
  graduation, a retirement, a birthday, reunions, etc.

• Tie in a daysail when you make a weekend trip down to Southern Maryland for a special event, such as a concert at the Calvert Marine Museum in Solomons, an art show at Annmarie Garden Sculpture Park & Arts Center, etc.

• See our Special Events page to learn about what's coming up in Solomons and Southern Maryland this 2010 season. To get you started, check out the website for the Solomons Maryland Business Association. This will give you a good idea of the goings on in our fabulous small town.
  
  
• Saturday, March 31: 12th Annual Taste of Solomons! 11 am - 4pm. Experience and share food and drink samplines from a variety of Solomons' restaurants.
  

• June 17th, Father's Day. Treat your father and five others to a wonderful day on the water. What a great way to show your love and appreciation!

• June 13 - June 16: Solomons Plein Air Festival 2010. This is an exciting plein air competition for both artists and views. Takes place on Solomons Island and the surrounding communities fo Solomons and Dowell.
  

• July 4 Fireworks Cruise. Sail on Heron, then anchor in the Patuxent River near the barge where the fireworks are shot. You can't get a better view than that! (Since the 4th falls on a Tuesday, we'll have to see which night will have the actual Fireworks Display.)
